About Us
VA Office of Women's Health oversees national policy and operations for women Veterans' health care and focuses on all aspects of women's health care, including comprehensive health, reproductive health, and education. Over the past two decades we have worked to transform our resources, services, and culture to meet the unique health care needs of women Veterans.
Your women's health team is here for you every step of the way, and designated women's health staff members are available at every VA. These include:
- Women's Health Primary Care Providers (WH-PCP) to deliver primary care, women-specific health care, and referrals for specialty services
- Women Veteran Program Managers (WVPM) to help you access benefits and health care services
- Women's Health Medical Directors to serve as clinical leaders for women's health at your facility
- Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT) are made up of you, those who support you (like your family members and caregivers), and your health care providers
- Maternity Care Coordinators (MCC) coordinate care for pregnant Veterans who are receiving maternity care benefits from VA
- Women's Mental Health Champions (WMHC) are a point of contact for women's mental health services at VA facilities
- LGBTQ+ Veteran Care Coordinators (LGBTQ+ VCC) coordinate care for LGBTQ+ Veterans receiving care at VA facilities
VA Office of Women's Health
VA Office of Women's Health, a part of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), seeks to provide high quality, gender-specific health care in a safe and sensitive environment at VA health facilities nationwide. We also strive to be a national leader in women's health care, raising the standard of care for all women.
Women are the fastest growing group of Veterans using VA services. The number of women Veterans using VHA services has tripled since 2001, growing from 159,810 to over 600,000 today.
Office of Women's Health ensures that women Veterans have access to all the care they need including comprehensive general health and reproductive health services. Women Veterans are at risk for some types of illness due to their military service, including but not limited to musculoskeletal issues, chronic pain, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and the experience of military sexual trauma. VA Office of Womens Health was created to address these needs with a focus on gender-specific care offered in a safe environment at all sites of care.
